American Bulldog Crew On Monday, June 3rd, a 7 year old mama dog gave birth to 8 bull...dog puppies. On Tuesday, the birth mother died (possibly due to complications during birth) leaving 8 new born puppies without a momma to feed and nurture them. The owner of the litter immediately called the local shelter and asked for help to save these newborns. Unfortunately, the local shelter lacked resources to save these puppies, so they referred the owner to Merit Pit Bull Foundation. Merit Pit Bull Foundation quickly contacted a volunteer to see if Rescue Ur Forever Friend would be able to help given their past success with newborn puppies. The volunteer quickly reached out to board members who within 15 minutes found four eager and willing volunteers who agreed to nurture and care for these puppies. A plan was put into motion within the hour and two volunteers put on their “rescue” capes and “flew” as fast as they could to get these helpless puppies. Unfortunately, on their way, they received a message from the owner that one puppy had already died. The volunteers forged onward and arrived in time to rescue the remaining seven puppies. Now Angus, Aggie, Brutus, Butch, Bruiser, Charger and Catalina (American Bulldog Crew) need your help! Please consider donating any of the following items to help: canned goat’s milk (some Kroger's and Food Lion's carry it in the baking section near evaporated milk), fleece throws and baby blankets for bedding, paper towels, potty pads and alcohol free baby wipes. Thank You!  Update: June 10, 2013 We are sad to report that Aggie passed away this morning. The vet believes she had an infection from the site of her umbilical cord from which she could not overcome. Our hearts are heavy and we know the foster did everything she could. Update: June 30, 2013 The puppies are thriving. They are four weeks old and we have started to feed them mush to wean them off the bottles. The foster's have appreciated all the donations of goat's milk, puppy pads, wipes and paper towels. Videos will be posted soon!
