Beagle : : Female (spayed)
DOB: 07/27/2018
Hello there! My name is Poppy and I have had a tough life till now. About a month ago, I wandered into a family’s yard in Granville County and they could tell I was hungry and thirsty. But I was scared and ran from them. However, I returned shortly since I was really hungry. The nice family fed me and let me stay in their garage while trying to find my family. No one claimed me but a foster for RUFF spotted my picture on a lost and found website and off I went to her house. The vet estimates my age to be around 5 even though my face might make you think older. My foster mom says I have just had a hard start to life. I am a tiny little girl and only weigh around 14 pounds but my foster mom is feeding me good food and I know she will have me in better shape in no time. We think I was used for breeding, seems I have had numerous litters, and just dumped when no longer of use. My nails were extremely long and I still have some sores on me, most likely from being crated most of the time. My foster mom has been giving me baths to try to help with that – not a fan!!! I have been fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and am heartworm negative. No more litters for me! I am super sweet but still a bit skittish when I first meet you. I have not had a lot of human interaction it seems but I sure like my canine sisters in my foster home. They help me feel more confident and brave. I have also discovered how cool walks are as you can sniff so many interesting things out there. I am housebroken for the most part as I have only had a couple of accidents in my foster home. i will go in my crate easily enough with some treats when my foster mom has to go to work and then I usually just sleep once in my crate. I have not chewed on one thing in my foster home other than the yummy treats I am given. I like to ride in the car especially if you let me curl up in your lap. I am also discovering the great things called “dog toys” – wow I have really been missing out on those. I even have a big fluffy bed to sleep in any time I want! If you are looking for the sweetest girl ever – that may possibly be me. In case you did not know, we Beagles are a pretty dang special breed. I would love a home with another dog but please no small children. I think they might make me scared. I would love to meet you if you think you could give me my forever home.
Thank you, Poppy
